Cascade Pass was beautiful on Labor Day. We camped at Pelton Basin and hiked up Sahale Arm and to Horseshoe Basin. Lots of wild blueberries and we saw a bear and mountain goats. Full review by mistyschulz

Are there any tricky stream crossings? I'm a senior citizen in great shape but I don't like balancing on rocks if the stream is wide. Also, what is the best time to visit during the summer? I'm a teacher and could go any time from early June to the beginning of Aug. It sounds great! (except for the drive up!)

I don't think June would be good, too much snow. August was good but warm. Used a lot of water & sunscreen. We're both teachers, too, one retired & one still working.

Backcountry Camping: A backcountry permit is required for all overnight stays. Permits are limited. There is no camping allowed directly at Cascade Pass but there are several campsites nearby: Pelton Basin, Sahale Glacier, Basin Creek and Johannesburg. There are numerous campsites along the trail to Stehekin as well.
