This tower is all that remains of the 13th century St Martin’s Church, which was the official city church of Oxford from 1122. In 1896, the main part of the church was demolished to make more room for traffic in the area. The tower is 74 feet tall and no building in central Oxford may constructed higher than it. Climb the 99 steps to the top for the best view of the Oxford skyline and surrounding countryside.

Hi Brian, you can just turn up and and get a ticket right there. Entrance is left to the red telephone booth, under the watch. I went there around 5pm on a Sunday and was the only one there. But they said they'd be closing soon so maybe check opening times before you go. Enjoy!
