Hi, I used a guide called Sammy Kassaw. He can be contacted at: samuel x kassaw xx gmail x com where x is a dot and xx is @ He organised everything - he was really professional and keen. The food was also excellent, and he provided a tent etc. I arranged my own flights to Gonder and Sammy picked me up there at my hotel and then dropped me off there again at the end of the trekking. It's best to send him an email saying what you would like to do. I did a 7 day trek. He can suggest a good itinerary, depending on your dates. I recommend Ras Dejen (4543m) which is the highest peak in Ethiopia :-) Hope this helps, Peter McNair

The climb varies significantly from the rainforest, bogs, rocky terrain, to the glacier. Having good balance and flexibility is key throughout much of the trek (especially for the bogs and slippery rocky terrain). On steep rocky portions and the glacier you will use ropes with a harness in portions and crampons on the glacier, but your guides should be able to show you exactly what to do. I had excellent guides with Rwenzori Trekking Services. In general, being in good physical condition is required and you should be able to ascend about 1000m/day in elevation and hikes lasting from 5-12 hours a day. Be prepared for rain as well. Do not let any of this stop you though. The Margherita peak climb and every bit of the Rwenzori National Park is magnificent!
