A federal bankruptcy judge paused the satirical news outlet The Onion’s winning bid of Infowars’ media platform to review the auction after owner Alex Jones and his lawyers complained about how the process was handled.

The Onion hopes to reopen the Infowars website in January as a parody of Jones and other conspiracy theorists.

A frustrated bankruptcy judge said he has concerns over the process in which satirical news site The Onion won an auction for right-wing provocateur Alex Jones’ Infowars website.

We’re all going to an evidentiary hearing and I’m going to figure out exactly what happened,” Judge Christopher Lopez said.

The satirical news publication The Onion was named the winning bidder for Alex Jones' Infowars at a bankruptcy auction, backed by families of Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting victims whom Jones owes more than $1 billion in defamation judgments for calling the massacre a hoax.
