After a rumor swirled online about Tom Cruise wanting Glen Powell to replace him in the “ Mission: Impossible ” franchise, ESPN commentator Pat McAfee called up Powell himself to ask if it was true.

Glen Powell, now a Vanity Fair Hollywood issue cover star, has long counted his Top Gun: Maverick co-star Tom Cruise as one of his mentors. But on Tuesday, Powell denied rumors that he is set to inherit one of Cruise’s major film franchises in the years to come.
