Pope Francis injured his arm in a fall at his residence, the Vatican announced Thursday. Officials said the pontiff was not severely injured but was taken for medical attention as a precaution.

The Vatican reported on the fall, which happened at the Saint Martha residence January 16. The 88-year-old pope's second fall in six weeks, but he continued his scheduled audiences.

Pope Francis has fallen over and injured his right arm but did not suffer any fractures, the Vatican says. In a statement, the Holy See press office said that due to a fall Thursday morning in the Casa Santa Marta, the pope’s residence, the 88-year-old pontiff “suffered a contusion to his right forearm, without fracture.”
