The Google Pixel Fold 9 Pro is a significant entry in the rapidly evolving foldable smartphone market, offering a compelling blend of innovative design

After 2 months, this is the only (big) problem I have with my awesome Pixel 9 Pro Fold - and it's a dealbreaker.

Foldable phones are expensive, primarily due to their folding display. This also makes them more expensive to repair, as a replacement screen can cost upwards of $500. If you own Google's second-gen foldable, the Pixel 9 Pro Fold, you might want to be even more careful with it, as its screen repair could cost you more than the Pixel 9 Pro XL.

Interestingly it’s also pricier than the same part for the Google Pixel Fold – which costs $909.99 / £904.99 (about AU$1,400) for the kit or $899.99 / £894.99 for the part only. The only saving grace is that at least a replacement is available,

The genuine Pixel 9 Pro Fold main screen costs $1,199, which is the same price as a brand-new iPhone 16 Pro Max and is more expensive than the Pixel 9 Pro XL. With that being said, other components are available at a more reasonable price, like the Pixel 9 Pro Fold's batteries.

If you accidentally break your Pixel 9 Pro Fold's screen, the resulting bill may be a shock, even if you decide to repair it yourself.

A little over a year later, Google has brought forth a successor in the Google Pixel 9 Pro Fold. But despite being an excellent refinement in its own right, the OnePlus Open still carries plenty of weight as one of 2023's best foldables; boasting hardware and software to rival Google's latest Pixel Fold. So, which is better?

With prices starting at $1,799, the Pixel Pro 9 Fold is one of the most expensive smartphones on the market. iFixit’s inner screen replacement for last year’s Pixel Fold was also costly at $899, but this is still an alarming jump for the latest model.
