A devastating flood struck an East Tennessee plastics manufacturing plant during Hurricane Helene, resulting in multiple employees being missing or deceased.

Impact Plastics made employees come in to work on Friday morning despite the imminent threat of flooding from Helene and kept them there as the nearby Nolichuky River overflowed its banks and inundated the plant.

The company stated that when water began to cover the parking lot and the adjacent service road and the plant lost power, employees were dismissed to go home.
