A fast-moving wildfire in Southern California has rapidly burned through more than 20,000 acres, fueled by powerful northeast winds. Governor Gavin Newsom has declared a state of emergency, mobilizing additional firefighting resources and urging Californians to prepare for potential evacuation orders.

Weather conditions have become more favorable, however the fire still remains a high threat at just 7% containment.

Southern Ventura County was primed to be hit with the region's most ferocious Santa Ana wind event in years, creating extremely critical fire weather in the area.
