Partner Sharing lets you instantly share your Google Photos library with someone else, but now it won't work with external photos.

There is currently no easy workaround for this Google Photos limitation.

The Partner Sharing feature in Google Photos has received an update that prevents images from third-party apps from being shared.

Originally launched back in 2017, Partner Sharing is a form of sharing in Google Photos where you can share your library of photos automatically with another user. This can share all photos, photos of specific people, or time-based sharing after a specific date. It’s a handy feature, but it’s seeing a change right now.

Google has released a new update for the Photos app, which brings a new “Updates” feed. The new tab replaces the “Sharing” tab. As of now, the new feature is available only on Android devices. The iOS counterpart of the app hasn’t yet received the new functionality.

Google Photos is making it easier to follow activity in your shared albums with a new Updates section. In the new section, you’ll be able to see notifications like updates to a shared album and updates to a conversation within Google Photos, according to a support post from Google.
