Earlier this week, the Punjab Police arrested Ram Swaroop alias Sodhi, a resident of Chaura village in Hoshiarpur in connection with the killing in August of one Maninder Singh, a resident of Ropar.

Ram Saroop alias Sodhi, a serial killer accused of killing eleven men in Punjab, revealed to the police that deep emotional trauma triggered by derogatory remarks about his sexuality was the driving force behind the murders.

As per the police, victims were men whom the accused used to offer lift in his car, and then rob and kill if they resisted.

The 33-year-old man, who operated primarily on highways in Punjab, confessed that he couldn't accept slurs about his body and identity, and his last murder was directly linked to such remarks.
