Jessica Pegula was knocked out of the WTA Finals with one group match still to play as she fell to a lacklustre straight-set defeat by Barbora Krejcikova.Wimbledon champion Krejcikova won 6-3 6-3 against a below-par Pegula for her first victory at the season-ending tournament in Riyadh,

Pegula has withdrawn from the WTA Finals Riyadh presented by PIF due to a nagging left knee injury. She will be replaced in the Orange Group by the first alternate and World No. 9 Daria Kasatkina.

Jessica Pegula’s late season rally has ended with the world’s No. 6-ranked player withdrawing from the WTA Finals because of a left knee injury. Pegula, who earlier this year rose to a No. 3 world ranking after reaching the U.

In the past two years, Pegula and Krejcikova have split their two head-to-head matches. The most recent one was on February 24, 2023, ending with Krejcikova winning 6-1, 5-7, 6-0.

World number two Iga Swiatek will play Daria Kasatkina on Thursday in her must-win match to stay in the hunt for a spot in the WTA Finals semi-finals after Jessica Pegula withdrew from the tournament with a knee injury.
