Idaho turned back Eastern Washington University, 83-76, and though the Vandals made an early bid to pull away, and they were able to overcome an Eagles’ second-half run, EWU had its deficit within four points, 72-68, with about four minutes to play and were within five points with less than a minute to go.
Eastern Washington held Sacramento State to 15 points in the first half and cruised to a 65-54 victory Saturday in a men’s basketball game at The Nest in Sacramento. “We’re starting to get better,” EWU head coach Dan Monson said in a postgame radio interview. “We have a ways to go to be in the top of this league, but today was a good start.”
