On Friday night, Quinn Ewers will try to lead Texas to a win over Ohio State, meaning he’s trying to lead his current college football team over his former college football team. That’s right, the Texas QB who is a native of the Lone Star State initially joined Ohio State, but then transferred to Texas after a semester with the Buckeyes.
As Ohio State and Texas clash in the Cotton Bowl, a unique chapter of Ewers’ and the Buckeyes’ past has returned to the spotlight.
Ewers was the top-ranked prospect in the class of 2021, per 247Sports. When in high school, he received offers from many powerhouses, including Texas and Alabama. But instead, he chose to play for Ohio State. Now, he has a chance to defeat his former team for a spot in the national championship.
"Ewers' return to Texas after he originally committed to the Ohio State Buckeyes helped re-establish the Longhorns as a national power," he wrote. "However, he never proved to be a consistent or top-level quarterback compared to his peers."
