A Florida woman was arrested for the death of her 2-year-old so, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office. The boy died from a combined drug intoxication of fentanyl and xylazine, officials said.

JSO said the mother said she found the child unresponsive in March 2024, but the cause of death was later determined to be combined drug intoxication.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Jacksonville police said Friday a mother is responsible for her 2-year-old son’s March 2024 death. Melissa Rae Harper, 43, brought the child to the hospital. He was unresponsive and told medical staff in the emergency room she found him that way.
