“The state will take over the school system,” Rep. Cameron Sexton said on KWAM’s “Wake Up Memphis” program. “The state will put in place a different board made up of individuals in Shelby County who will oversee the schools and make the changes that are necessary, or hire a new director if necessary, to get the schools back under control.”

Illinois is ranked 18th in the new AP Top 25 poll, released Monday. The Illini (14-6, 6-4 Big Ten) also are 20th in the coaches' poll.

Auburn was the unanimous choice atop the men's college basketball poll after its thrilling victory over then-No. 6 Tennessee.

The top five spots in this week's Associated Press Top 25 poll remain unchanged, with Auburn still the unanimous No. 1 selection, while St. John's and Memphis made the biggest moves forward after each climbed five spots.

The Texas A&M men’s basketball team fell remained No. 13 in the Associated Press Top 25, but fell two spots to No. 15 in the USA Today coaches poll.

ACC schedules in full are revealed Monday on ACC Network, but the opponents are known. This is a doozy for Mike Norvell's team. Florida State opens against Alabama, the first of four games against opponents ranked inside the top 20 of 247Sports rankings. One of the only positives for the Seminoles is not having to deal with 2024 ACC runner-up SMU.
