Rear-end strikes from three commercial vehicles sparked a series of crashes that claimed four lives and injured a dozen more.

The crash happened at 7:04 p.m. Thursday in the 2300 mile of 340th St., according to a statement released Monday by the Clay County Sheriff's Office.
