Danger to life flood warning in force with more rain, sleet and snow on way - The Environment Agency has urged people to remain vigilant over the coming days as flood warnings are still in place.

Yellow warnings for snow and ice remain in place after severe flooding and snow caused travel disruption and school closures across the UK. The Met Office said wintry weather is expected to bring icy roads and travel delays to much of west England, Wales, north and west Scotland, and Northern Ireland.

Dozens of flood warnings have been issued across Scotland over Hogmanay as poor weather continues to hit the country.

Most of the worst flooding is expected to hit the Midlands and north of England. Manchester Airport’s runways were closed early on Monday morning because of heavy snow but later reopened. Hundreds of schools were closed on Monday, in areas including Lancashire, Yorkshire and north-east Scotland.

Rain warnings are in place for southern England and south Wales, with flood warnings issued as snow melts due to milder temperatures.
