The 2025 World Junior Championship ended thrillingly on Sunday night with Team USA defeating Team Finland in overtime in the Gold Medal game. The entire tournament, as always, didn’t disappoint and all of New Jersey’s high school hockey alums fared well.

Ten players from three of the conference’s schools — six from Boston College, three from Boston University, and one from Providence — were part of the 25-man roster.

While they didn't have their fingerprints directly on the game-winner, it was a gold medal game littered with Detroit Red Wings prospects. Jesse Kiiskinen (whom Detroit acquired via trade in June) scored the opening goal of the evening on the power play, funneling down the slot before wiring home a wrist shot.

The Americans avenged a 4-3 overtime loss to Finland in group play, overcoming a two-goal deficit in the second period to win their second straight junior worlds title and seventh overall.

Teddy Stiga’s OT goal means the U.S. will be defending back-to-back titles when the tournament is played in the Twin Cities in 2026.

The United States will play Finland in the final of the World Junior Hockey Championship on Sunday evening. It will start at 7:30 p.m. ET at the Canadian Tire Centre in Ottawa, Ontario, and will be a repeat of their game Dec.
