The comments come after now former Superintendent Marie Feagins said she filed a lawsuit against the board, alleging violations of open meetings laws.

According to the lawsuit, Feagins is suing for violations of the Tennessee Open Meetings Act. Feagins does not address the contract violations that the board found in the termination resolution in the complaint, but instead said the board violated public meetings laws through texts and private meetings.

Feagins claims in a complaint provided by her attorney Monday that the school board violated the Tennessee Open Meetings Act while terminating her contract. She alleges that school board members privately discussed firing her for months ahead of her official ousting in January.

All nine MSCS school board members are listed in the lawsuit and accused of violating the Open Meetings Act, which gives the public rights to attend and observe public meetings.
