AFC Wimbledon have been forced to postpone Saturday’s League Two fixture against Accrington Stanley after failing to secure a replacement ground to stage the match.

Newcastle, who were due to play AFC Wimbledon in the Carabao Cup, have pledged £15,000 to help their flooded pitch.

Former AFC Wimbledon players Jack Currie and Lee Brown have both made donations towards the JustGiving page to help the club get games back on at Plough Lane following the extensive flooding and damage to the pitch and stadium. Currie, 22, progressed through the club’s academy and made 95 first team appearances before joining Oxford in the summer.

Newcastle United have donated £15,000 to the JustGiving page set up by Wimbledon fans to help the club after flooding wrecked the pitch at Plough Lane and caused damage to the stadium. The Premier League side’s donation took the total beyond the targeted £50k set by the page.
