The National Weather Service had warned about a “significant” and “historic” snowstorm for south Alabama on Tuesday, and forecasters were right. Parts of south Alabama got record-setting amounts of snow on Tuesday. Mobile got 7.5 inches on Tuesday, which shattered its all-time record for snow, which had stood since 1895.

All-time record snowfall blanketed the Mobile area on Tuesday. Footage from Noah Scheeler shows the campus of the University of South Alabama draped in a thick winter coat, as snow continued to fall in the region.

A historic snowfall in south Alabama had many residents capturing the moment in quirky and amusing videos that have social media chirping. One such video pertains to a Mobile saxophonist playing his instrument in the snow with no shirt on under his puffer jacket.

Storm Enzo blanketed the Gulf Coast from Texas to Florida with snow on Tuesday, bringing a rare winter sight to parts of the country more accustomed to sun and sand. On Monday, the National Weather Service called it a once in a generation event.
