The historic 50th home run ball hit by Japanese baseball superstar Shohei Ohtani, with the Los Angeles Dodgers, was unveiled for public viewing at Taiwan’s landmark Taipei 101 tower on Wednesday.

Shohei Ohtani’s record-setting 50th home run ball sold for $4.392 million at auction last month, making it the most expensive baseball, or any ball used in professional sports history.

The ball, which sold at auction for $4,392,000, was presented on the 89th floor of the Taipei 101 building.. A special exhibition featuring Los Angeles Dodgers slugger Shohei Ohtani's historic 50th home run ball of 2024 kicked off Wednesday on a landmark Taipei skyscraper's observation deck to promote tourism and showcase the island's passion for baseball.

Shohei Ohtani is a global icon, but his star status is about to be on full display in Taiwan. Ohtani’s fame knows no boundaries, and now, one of the most celebrated souvenirs in all of baseball will be on display in one of the world’s most iconic skyscrapers.

The world's most valuable baseball, the 50/50 Memorial Ball, is on display at the Taipei 101 Observatory. It was hit by Los Angeles Dodgers slugger Shohei Ohtani on his 50th home run of the season and is worth over US$4 million.
