Fox has renewed the medical drama for a 22-episode Season 2, a few weeks before the Season 1 finale on March 18. "Doc" stars Molly Parker as Dr. Amy Larsen, a hard-charging and brilliant ex-chief of internal and family medicine who returns to work after a brain injury erases the past eight years of her life.

Fox has given an early, 22-episode Season 2 renewal to breakout freshman medical drama Doc, starring Molly Parker. This is a rare full-season order of that size in the new broadcast era where seasons often consist of 13-18 episodes.

Fox renewed the medical drama for a second season on Wednesday, February 26. (The renewal comes with just two episodes left in the first season.) The network noted that it was its most-watched debut in over five years, with 16 million tuning in to the premiere across platforms to-date (including encores, viewing through February 19).

It has been a very good TV season for the new scripted series on broadcast television. Historically, the freshman series renewal rate is generally in the vicinity of 20 percent each broadcast season.

Fox’s freshman medical drama Doc is scrubbing in for another season. According to TV Insider, Fox has given a Season 2 order to the new series, with a whopping 22 episodes as opposed to Season 1’s 10 episodes.

Fox started the 2025 TV schedule off on a very strong note with new medical drama Doc, which immediately broke a ratings record when it premiered in January. It's the first medical drama on the network since the conclusion of The Resident in 2023,
