The edtech giant is notifying state attorneys general about the breach but won’t say how many individuals have been affected

Education software giant PowerSchool has started notifying individuals in the U.S. and Canada whose personal data was exposed in a late December 2024 cyberattack.

An attorney filed the notification on behalf of PowerSchool, a software company that makes products used by thousands of schools across the country.

Israeli cybersecurity firm Wiz discovered sensitive data from Chinese AI startup DeepSeek publicly accessible. The data included digital keys and chat logs. DeepSeek secured the data rapidly after being alerted.
