U.S. Sen. Josh Hawley won a second term on Tuesday, overcoming a well-financed rival in a state that hasn’t elected a Democrat to statewide office since 2018.

Since joining the U.S. Senate, Hawley has struck a populist tone, abandoning previous opposition to anti-union “right-to-work” laws and minimum wage hikes. He has defended his decision to object to the certification of the 2020 election.

The race for Missouri’s U.S. Senate seat between Republican incumbent Josh Hawley and Democrat Lucas Kunce has gotten downright nasty at times. Each candidate has accused the other of being radical and wrong for Missouri.
