A Chinese farmer had a lucky escape after a rare Siberian tiger hurled itself against the gate of his home, smashing it off its hinges.

Authorities in Heilongjiang province, northern China, have issued warnings after a rare sighting of Siberian tigers. The alert follows a viral video showing a farmer narrowly escaping an attack by one of the animals.

The tiger travelled a long distance from Kinwat in the Nanded district of Maharashtra and is currently roaming through the Adilabad and Nirmal districts of Telangana. It took him nearly 30 days since the third week of October to cover the distance.

Tiger Johnny began his journey in Kinwat taluka, Maharashtra, in late October and has since traversed the dense forests of Adilabad and Nirmal districts in Telangana.
