The path of Georgia Southern's head coach has crossed with those of Lane Kiffin and Jaxson Dart during his career.

The good news, however, is when Wake Forest took control after the interception, they earned themselves a first and goal opportunity at the nine-yard line, but the Ole Miss defense refused to let them score and forced a turnover on downs. For Dart, this defense has provided him with something he felt was not there last season.

Helton and Kiffin share the distinction of both having been head coaches at Southern Cal who were fired in-season and Helton, now at Georgia Southern, recruited Dart, now the Ole Miss quarterback and a Heisman Trophy candidate, to USC.

Jaxson Dart had two scoring passes and a touchdown run and Henry Parrish Jr. ran for two touchdowns as No.5 Mississippi rode a strong start to a 40-6 road victory

It says a lot about the Rebels and the high standard they've set for themselves that they view Saturday's 34-point win at Wake Forest as a wakeup call.

Ole Miss Rebels head coach Lane Kiffin was not happy that Wake Forest backed out of the scheduled 2025 game between the two programs last week.
