MONTREAL -- Kyle Connor scored twice, and the Winnipeg Jets extended their winning streak to four games with a 4-1 victory against the Montreal Canadiens at Bell Centre on Tuesday. Mark Scheifele also scored, and Gabriel Vilardi had two assists for the Jets (35-14-3), who are 8-2-1 in their past 11 games. Connor Hellebuyck made 24 saves.

Turning to the final leg of this same-game parlay, Winnipeg winger Nikolaj Ehlers paces the Jets with 9.7 shots and 18.94 attempts per 60 minutes, and he has a splash of statistical correction ahead in the shots column.

Montreal always seems to give Winnipeg a tough test, especially in their own building. The Jets lost 4-3 in a shootout during last year’s annual visit (Laurent Brossoit was in net), and fell 4-1 the previous season (with Hellebuyck between the pipes).

The Devils have the horses to keep up: Jack Hughes, Nico Hischier, Jesper Bratt, and Timo Meier are capable of taking over games on any given night. Those four stars are spread across three lines in Sheldon Keefe’s current variation of the lineup, making the Devils a difficult team to match up against.
