AFC Wimbledon have been forced to postpone Saturday’s League Two fixture against Accrington Stanley after failing to secure a replacement ground to stage the match.

Newcastle, who were due to play AFC Wimbledon in the Carabao Cup, have pledged £15,000 to help their flooded pitch.

Torrential rain has forced League 2 AFC Wimbledon’s Carabao Cup third-round tie against Newcastle United to be postponed due to a sinkhole caused by heavy flooding at the club’s Plough Lane stadium.

Former AFC Wimbledon players Jack Currie and Lee Brown have both made donations towards the JustGiving page to help the club get games back on at Plough Lane following the extensive flooding and damage to the pitch and stadium. Currie, 22, progressed through the club’s academy and made 95 first team appearances before joining Oxford in the summer.
