Trial date set for husband charged in Reston double murder case
The trial date has been set for a man who was charged for his alleged involvement in killing his wife and another man in their Reston home when the couple’s au pair was previously charged. The Fairfax County Police Department arrested Brendan Banfield on Monday.

Fairfax County police officers took Brendan Banfield into custody on Sept. 16, 2024. He's charged in the murders of his wife and another man that took place on Feb. 24, 2024. Police found Christine Banfield and Joseph Ryan in the Banfields' home on Stable Brook Way.

Medics took Christine to the hospital where she died. Months later, police arrested Juliana Peres Magalhaes of Reston for Ryan’s murder. Peres Magalhaes was the Banfields’ au pair.
