Jon Lovett began his Survivor 47 journey by saying that his friends and family wanted to see him suffer. Well, they certainly got their wish. Lovett became the latest recipient of the Sonja Christopher Golden Ukulele award when he was the first person voted out of the game by his Gata tribe.

Survivor returned with a two-hour premiere for season 47 on Sept. 18. For one of the 18 new castaways, the “adventure of a lifetime” was cut very short, when Jon Lovett — a Pod Save America co-host and Barack Obama’s former speechwriter — was voted out by his Gata tribemates.

“Based on how things were after the challenge, I was shocked. I thought Andy was done,” Probst says in the Season 4 premiere of On Fire, the only official Survivor aftershow and podcast. His cohosts this season are Jay Wolff and Survivor 46 alum Charlie Davis, who will also provide commentary on each episode throughout the season.
