The blade was shorted to 5 inches due to pilot feedback and the basic design of the knife has stayed that way since. Here are some examples of the markings on the Camillus made knives. 1958 thru 1966.

Apr 14, 2007 · All I can say for sure is that it is not an "Official" contract knife. Official contract knives during the Viet Nam war were made by Camillus and Conetta. Beyond that I know Kiffe and Gutman had Mark 2 type knives cataloged and they were manufactured in Japan during the Vietnam war. See the ad for Gutman which appeared in 1968:

Camillus produced the knife with a 6-inch blade from 1959-1961.
