Aug 21, 2019 · A total of 470 seats in the U.S. Congress (35 Senate seats and all 435 House seats) were up for election on November 8, 2022. The seats of five of the six non-voting members of the U.S. House were up for election as well. Two special elections for the U.S. Senate took place on November 8, 2022.

As a result of the U.S. House elections, Republicans won control of the U.S. House, winning 222 seats to Democrats 213. [1] All 435 seats in the U.S. House of Representatives were up for election in 2022. Thirty-five seats in the U.S. Senate — 14 held by Democrats and 21 [2] held by Republicans — were up for election as well.

Democrats held 51 seats in the 100-member Senate after the 2022 elections, which renewed 35 seats. In addition, the Vice President of the United States (Democrat), who is also the President of the Senate, may cast tie-breaking votes. Democrats have therefore retained control of the Senate.
