The software I use is ArtCAM, PhotoVcarve, Cut2D, VisualMILL, VisualART, and Alibre cad. Just to add all these have their uses. Many decisions when starting out cnc routing. Having built a computer controlled motion device that moved only along 1 axis, I can't imagine anyone who is not a machinist and computer programmer successfully building anything that will achieve the degree of accuracy necessary for fine woodworking.

Just a suggestion --> Find out what software comes with the machine. When I bought my 1st Shark cnc it came with Vectrics software which is a $800.00 for free.

Aug 24, 2023 · I've only seen one and it was an earlier model; not very rigid so accuracy and repeatability wasn't very good. Maybe they've made changes, though. The HD4 came out in 2016, so I don't think it's been updated. It looks like eventhe new ones still use plastic gantry sides, which is one of the biggest issues.

Jan 8, 2024 · CAD helps in making the design and CAM tells the cnc how to cut/carve the design. Fusion 360 does both plus more. For 3d printing you will be sending a 3d file to a slicer (program that breaks down the model to the printed layers) to tell the printer what needs to be done. Again Fusion can generate the 3d files.
